How it Works
ValveShield installs in a matter of minutes and works 24/7 to keep valves clear of debris. An integrated filter collects debris, which can be discarded during maintenance and repairs.
The protective colored handle cover is ideal for color-coding applications and for protecting labels, RFID tags, and QR codes. Integration with a mobile-accessible GIS database allows maintenance crews to understand which valves they are working with along with other pertinent information such as size, location, turns to close, and date of service.
To maximize the benefits of ValveShield, we recommend installing ValveShield on all new valve installations and retrofitting existing valve castings with ValveShield throughout your community.
Installation Instructions
Assemble ValveShield by attaching the filter to its bottom. Pull down on the filter to set it inside the locking ring.
Add a label or QR code to the handle and snap a clear or color-coded protective cover over it.
Remove the valve box lid.
Insert the filter end first and place ValveShield inside the riser at a 45-degree angle.
For Threaded ValveShield:
Screw ValveShield into place using the riser’s existing threads.
For Slip-Type ValveShield:
Firmly place the ValveShield into the casting. If tracer wires are present, ValveShield has provided knock-out holes to allow the wire to be placed up and through the shield, allowing the wires to be kept conveniently in the top of the valve’s box and not lost somewhere in the bottom.
Replace the lid.
Removal Instructions
Removing ValveShield is easy. Simply:
Remove the valve box lid
Reach in
For Threaded ValveShield:
Unscrew ValveShield
For Slip-Type ValveShield:
Move any tracing wires out of the way
Remove ValveShield
Dump out the debris
Replace the valve box lid
